Matzen Tegl produces hand-smoothed and soft-smoothed bricks with a focus on material, surface and variation. We work with both standard formats and special solutions and collaborate with architects and builders on projects where the expression of the brick is important.
Matzen Tegl is a family-owned Danish brick manufacturer with roots dating back to 1750. Today, the company is run by the eighth generation and includes both Carl Matzens Teglværk and Gråsten Teglværk.
We produce hand- and soft-fired bricks for new construction, restoration and architectural projects in Denmark and abroad. Our work is based on generations of experience, local clay and a fundamental respect for the material.
Matzen brick today
Today, Matzen Tegl is run by the eighth generation and has had its own sales organization since February 1, 2025. This gives us the opportunity to work more closely with architects, builders and partners throughout the entire process.
We develop and produce hand- and soft-fired bricks, often in close dialogue about the project’s aesthetic and architectural requirements. The bricks are used in both new construction, restoration and special constructions where the material plays a crucial role.
Cooperation in other countries
Matzen Tegl collaborates closely with architects, builders and partners both in Denmark and internationally. The collaboration is based on professionalism, dialogue and a shared understanding of the importance of the material in each project.
In Sweden, Tegelmäster is a partly owned company of Matzen Tegl. Tegelmäster sells Matzen Tegl’s bricks and advises on projects.
In Norway, Matzen Tegl is represented by Mur Direkte .
In the Netherlands we work with STC (Stenen Totaal Concept), which is the official distributor of Matzen Tegl, in collaboration with GDS and AMA. Read more at matzen-tegl.nl.
